Went on a spontaneous night out there after hearing a lot about it and I have to say I was very disappointed. Not sure if it was due to the line up but the sound was awful, just pure bass and nothing else. Had to shout to the bar staff to order a drink as you couldn’t hear each other, spent most of our night in the smoking area.
Only one room was open too so might have been an off night.
They’ve had a some great residents so I’d give it another chance but we had a terrible experience.
The reviewer ‘WenSam’ couldn’t have summed it up better. My joint favourite club in London, the vibe is always great and music policy incredible. Nice to have a bit more of an intimate atmosphere than some of the ‘super’ clubs.
The absolute south London guv’nor. A venerable Brixton institution. The big disco ball of Phonox is a shining star for all those who reside south of the Thames.
Its amazing sound system and no-frills dance floor is renowned across the capital and frequently attracts an eclectic mix of big names and soon-to-be big names.
A highlight is the bar-cum-pub downstairs that is the perfect place to take a breather
with a cool pint – and to yap with some new friends.
The smoking area reflects the vibe of Phonox – friendly chaos with a healthy appreciation of good music. Doubt there’s more relaxed security in Brixton.
To conclude: I have partied in Phonox, I have made love in Phonox, I yearn for Phonox. Don’t ever change guys x
