Few acts have captured the sound and energy of modern UK club music quite like Overmono. The Welsh brothers, Tom and Ed Russell, have spent the last few years carving out a distinctive style that blends UK garage, breakbeats, techno and emotive vocal samples into something instantly recognisable.

With a run of standout EPs and their acclaimed debut album Good Lies, the duo have built one of the strongest catalogues in contemporary British electronic music. We’ve gone back through it all to pick out the highlights. Here’s our definitive ranking of the 10 best Overmono tracks, counting down to number one.

10. Overmono – Paradise Runner

Their latest release at time of writing, Paradise Runner seems to get better with every play. It may well end up becoming one of their classic tracks over the next few years.

9. Overmono – Bby

One of their slower, more subtle releases, yet one that still packs a punch and helped establish Overmono on the scene in 2021.

8. Overmono – Gem Lingo (ovr now) (ft. Ruthven)

This was falsely rumoured to be a Fred Again collaboration when still unreleased and it’s easy to see why. It’s melodic and catchy yet retains the signature Overmono choppy vocals and synths.

7. Overmono & High Contrast – If We Ever

Overmono giving a High Contrast DnB classic their own spin was certainly unexpected but it works so well. The duo rework the beloved drum & bass anthem into something more modern while still preserving the emotion of the original. This one was huge last year.

6. Overmono – Good Lies

A much poppier number, Good Lies pushed Overmono further into the mainstream and opened up a whole new audience for them. The title track from their debut album remains one of their most streamed songs and helped cement their place beyond just the underground club circuit.

5. Overmono – So U Know

Featuring on the 2023 album Good Lies, despite being released as a single in 2021, So U Know has been a staple across festival sets ever since Overmono began their rapid rise.

4. Overmono – Is U

Released at the start of 2023, Is U is signature Overmono and helped push them firmly into the spotlight of the UK rave scene that year. The hypnotic vocal sample and rolling percussion make it an instant crowd pleaser whenever it drops.

3. Overmono & The Streets – Turn The Page

It’s hard to put this at number three given the impact it had on UK dancefloors, but such is the quality of Overmono’s productions. Taking one of The Streets’ most underrated tracks and reworking it into something more club friendly was a stroke of genius.

2. Kwengface, Joy Orbison & Overmono – Freedom 2

A track that’s virtually impossible to skip and one that was extremely close to coming in at number one. Overmono combine with Kwengface to rework his original Freedom, speeding it up, adding bass and synths, and transforming it into one of the best UK dance and rap crossovers of all time.

1. For Those I Love – I Have a Love (Overmono Remix)

Potentially a controversial number one, but it’s hard to think of a more emotive remix in dance music in recent years. Overmono completely revamp the original by For Those I Love, speeding up the haunting Irish-accented vocals and layering shimmering synths that build continuously across the six-minute runtime. Pure euphoria.
