Information We Collect

  • Reviews and comments – when visitors leave reviews or comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

  • Gravatar service – an anonymised string created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. Their privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture (if you use Gravatar) is visible in the context of your comment.

  • Media – if you upload images, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS), as visitors may be able to download and extract this information.

  • Technical data – including IP address, browser type, and device information.

  • Cookies and usage data – as described below.

Cookies

We use cookies to help our site function and improve your experience. Examples include:

  • If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies (for convenience). These last one year.

  • If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. This contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

  • When you log in, we set cookies to save your login info and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, screen option cookies for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.

  • If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved with the post ID of the article. It expires after 1 day.
